Order volume coming into Shiptheory in large part through our API, but also other channels, has surged in the past week. We are working around the clock to mitigate any negative impact on performance the surge may have on your shipping experience.

While we work to increase our system capacity, additional throttling as been implemented. You may notice this throttling if:

  1. You are using the Shiptheory public RESTFUL API and are sending more than 2 requests per second to us (In which case, you will receive a 429 HTTP error code , as documented in our developer documentation).

Or

  1. You use integrated labels and are logging into the Shiptheory UI and manually downloading large batches of integrated labels. In this scenario, you will notice label download time may be slightly longer than usual. Printing integrated labels in smaller batches is advisable.

If you are using automatic desktop printing, you will not be affected by the temporary throttling. We are working to return to full speed, and have introduced these temporary measures to limit any disruption users may face while shipping.

Further updates will be provided as we progress returning to full speed. Thank you for your understanding.

We're sorry for the recent performance issues some users have been facing. We've identified that multiple accounts are abusing our API which is causing problems at peak times. We are currently implementing better rate protection to our API to mitigate this and hope to see a significant improvement later today.
